Bills of materials
An approved bill of materials is immutable, and an edit creates a new version. A production order fixes the version when it is created, so a change in technology does not rewrite production that is already running.

What is included?
- Versions, approval and archive
- Consumption rate, loss percentage, mandatory and optional components
- Allowed substitutes with priority
- By-products and returnable waste with a cost share
- Planned cost and explosion down to raw materials
- Where used: which bills of materials contain a component

Frequently asked questions
What happens to production orders when a new version appears?
Nothing. A production order works by the version fixed when it was created. The new version applies to new production orders.
Are multilevel bills of materials available?
Yes, in Mode 2. An in-house semi-finished product goes into the next-level bill of materials, and circular references are detected on save.
